We were lucky enough to have an early holiday in March this year, making the most of still not being tied to school holidays which will all change come September (sobs). Some of you may now be away or planning your trip for the summer so I just wanted to share some of the things I wore on hols and also some of my top finds to make your holiday wardrobe special. As a mama you deserve a treat so go on - get something nice to make you feel extra special whilst you're away this year and show off your mama style!
Sadly the top in the main pic (from & Other Stories) is now sold out online but you may be able to get it in-store like I did. It wasn't the most practical for eating bbq food in (nice stain already) but the colourful rik rak trim and big floaty sleeves are something else and made me feel great. Zara have this top as a similar alternative. As always I can't recommend Salt-Water sandals enough - they are the PERFECT holiday shoe (I have gold Originals on here) and they go with everything, plus they are waterproof so good for the beach too. If you don't own a pair then make sure you invest in some this summer - you won't regret it. They are super comfy and do kids ones too so you can twin!
I'm a massive convert to jumpsuits (and playsuits for the beach) these days as they are a no brainer, the only downside being have to get naked in the loo when you need to go! My stripy jumpsuit (top left) was last years Whistles and I have honestly lived in this, it was worth the £100+ price tag as I have probably worn it 30+ times at least, you can make it casual with Stan Smiths and Saltwaters or dress it up with clogs and heels. They are doing a similar one this year here. This Sun Hat from Accessorize worked with sunnies (mine are Karen Walker and Accessorize) and hair down, plus it is packable as it is softly structured so doesn't end up too trashed. Lipstick (My faves were Nars Famous Red and Lord & Berry Vogue Red) which I had never worn on the beach before was a revelation! Highly recommend it :) Finally my Zara Embroidered Dress (bottom right) which I bought for a bargain £20 in the sale has become super useful and looked fab with espadrilles, in fact any tan colour shoe! Sadly its sold out but they are doing it in white and grey now. These folky floaty dresses and tops are perfect for hiding a mum tum and bingo wings, even doubling up as maternity wear, well worth investing in.
A useful holiday top is always a lightweight cotton smock top. I've found the perfect one by Olive Loves Alfie (pictured above) - it worked chucked on over a bikini after the beach, teamed with denim shorts or dressed up with skinny jeans or lightweight trousers in the evening. They are selling them in 3 block print indigo fabrics and all the tops are made in the UK too.
So big sleeves and embroidery are having a moment and are everywhere but we love them and can't get enough of them. Holiday wardrobes are all about having fun - leopard print, colour pops, pom poms, stripes, embroidered kaftans, silver shoes, flouro, espadrilles and white dresses will make you happy. There are some AMAZING things out there... these are just a few that are catching my attention right now... hmmm I think I need another holiday! x
