I'm always on the look out for new inspiration and ideas for my ever evolving home. It's super easy to update and freshen up a room - for example by adding seasonal cushion covers, new curtains, wall paper or bedding. I was bought up in a creative household - my mum was a serious quilter and sewer and often made us matching holiday clothes. My dad has masses of art scrapbooks that we spent hours looking through getting inspired when we were younger. I've always been into textiles, arts and crafts (eventually ending up as a Fashion Buyer) so when I recently discovered Spoonflower I was really excited to see an online marketplace where creative types can go and actually get their ideas printed into their very own custom designed textiles.
Spoonflower has an impressive community of over 3.5 million individuals. You can use your own designs or pick someone elses from their marketplace to make curtains, quilts, clothes, bags, furniture, dolls, pillows, framed artwork, costumes, banners and much, much more. It's also nice to see a business who have worked hard at their sustainability credentials and by printing on demand and using a digital print process with eco-friendly, water-based pigment inks and dyes they produce very little waste. There are over 650,000 designs (plus more added every day) in the Spoonflower Marketplace and it's the largest collection of independent designers in the world.

Then this is the website for you to start getting creative! I've found some really nice prints - everything from moroccan tiles to quirky kawaii patterns.

1. Removable Wallpaper
Removable wallpaper is such a genius way to update a room without having to worry about over committing to something. It's a great way to create your own kids wall stickers, statement bedroom or bathroom walls or upcycle furniture.

2. Cheater Quilt (Maker - Yara Greuter)
We have always been bought up with quilts in our household as my grandmother, mum and aunties would all make them for their kids and grandkids. There is something about these heirloom worthy pieces that bring colour and a family feel into any home. The dedication, time and care that goes into these quilt spreads always means so much so it was interesting to discover the cheater quilt template available.

I would love to make a quilt for the kids one day so am going to be trying this easier technique out for sure! I love the idea of picking a print theme (maybe spaceships or donuts?) and finding some nice print combinations that work together, lots of fun to be had with this project.
3. Kids DIY Canopy (Kids DIY Canopy - by The Style Safari)
I'm a big fan of kids canopies in bedrooms as it really transforms it into something quite fun and magical. It makes the perfect spot for story time and playing. All that's needed is some chiffon printed fabric and an embroidery hoop... now it's just deciding what print to go with!

4. Make your own Kimono
How cool is this kimono? I love the idea of making this for a summer festival or simply glamming it up at home!
5. DIY Fabric Planter
If you know me you know I have become obsessed with having plants and greenery in my home recently so as soon as I saw these fabric planters I fell in love with them! Plus the fabrics she has used for the tutorial really remind me of my bathroom tiles! I also love the idea of using these as toy or storage baskets dotted around the house - so many end uses and such a great gift idea as well.
