I’ve had a lot of requests for summer dresses, sandals, shorts and sunglasses so have collated them all into this bumper summer special for you! We are officially in UK summertime now and the weather has been glorious, long may it last! If you are after some inspiration for anything you may need in your summer wardrobe then you have come to the right place. Please note these are mostly high street picks and I will be working on an independent brands and ethical edit in the next couple of weeks too so watch this space.
Dresses
My favourite time of the year is when you can live in dresses! I have tried to include a mix of sun dresses, long sleeves / arm cover ups, linen and dresses for those not so warm days. Personally I prefer the comfort of a looser fitting or oversized dress in summer and luckily there are a lot around. Big statement sleeves are always top of my wishlist and the Sleeper Atlanta Dress which is such a stunning and versatile piece needs a big mention. An investment piece but one that will really give your summer wardrobe a boost.
Sandals
My go to summer sandals are Saltwater Sandals (waterproof and retro cool), Teva/ trekking sandals (yay to these sporty styles continuing to be a big trend) and Birkenstocks (the Arizona double strap always, they work with everything!). Classic colours - black, cream and tan are always a good investment as they go with most pieces. I’m also loving the chunky more boyish sandals (seen via Grenson and Dr Martens) that are around too and work well back with a pretty dress or shorts.
Shorts
I know shorts aren’t for everyone but I can’t sing their praises enough when it’s a hot day and you need something more practical than a skirt. Shorts are on trend too so there is a really good selection out there at the moment. You can’t go wrong with wide legs, high waist, linen and paperbag waistbands. I have tried to include a mixture of leg lengths as I know we don’t all like to share our knees with the world! I have been living in my Gingham Seersucker shorts but currently have my eye on these scalloped edge white shorts…
Sunglasses
When it comes to sunglasses I love to have a mixture on the go - it’s the perfect way to update any summery outfit. I go for retro cat eye shapes, fun heart frames, bright strong colours (there are some great green and red styles on around) or classic wayfarers and tortoiseshell. Find the shape that suits you and have fun with it.
